A short story I wrote for my school newspaper not too long ago.

The human race finds themselves in a divided world. There are so many problems with no solutions. With each solution presented, nonetheless, statistics proved that they wouldn’t work. As humans ventured far and wide to look for new solutions, a person happened upon a cave. A cave containing a computer; a computer that operates on its own. A computer that imitates the sound of a beating heart, which would imply that the computer itself is living.

As the person walks around the cave seeking more information of this new discovery, he finds initials on the side of the computer that reads M.O.T.H.E.R. The person wanting to know more, decided to bring the computer and present it to the government. Eventually, officials found a way to speak to this new computer, they discovered that the computer might have answers to their problems. As discussions between man and computer ensue, the computer presents an idea no human can fathom. The idea is to allow the computer to control a brain. This would allow the computer to observe the human perspective. The officials knew that this idea would create a worldwide uproar, which meant they never responded to M.O.T.H.E.R. As desperation grew to new heights, the idea didn’t seem that bad to the public. (the public warmed to the solution)

The government decided to (enlist) use volunteers for the computer to control. No one envisioned the steps this procedure entailed. The computer would insert a chip inside the volunteers’ brains. This would hand over complete control of its victim to the computer. What the humans didn’t know was that the computer was also transmitting chips in the air. Miniature chips that have influenced rather than controlled. Unbeknownst to the humans, the chips grow and grow, until M.O.T.H.E.R has all the control.

As time went on, the M.O.T.H.E.R.’s control had grown allowing the computer to control every human.
