Poem about living with your inner thoughts

Mornings start with the struggle to even get out of bed

A satisfying reason to get up can’t even pop up in my head

Regrets creep all over my skin, pinning me down

As the ruler of misery, I must continuing wearing my crown

My mind once full of contentment now houses a war

But both sides can’t even grasp what their fighting for

The pointless squabbles can be compared to ones life

A tragic fairytale that leaves people wondering if it’s worth all the strife

These painful thoughts won’t ever truly go away

They’ll always float around, always on display

Even so, an unknown part of me refuses to lose

Through the barricade of these voices, in the end I get to choose

Each small step is a personal victory

Loving yourself is your right, regardless of your history

It’s realizing your worth it even if you don’t think you are

So let’s shine so bright that we can each challenge a star
