Do I cry for medusa? Do you know Medusa? Did you know what she has been through? Do you know everything about her  past? If you don’t read this and you’ll find out. I think Medusa went through more than the internet lets on. I think the gods looked the other way for a reason.

 Medusa family life

Did you know medusa had two sons? Their father was none other than sea god  Poseidon. Their sons' names were Chrysaor and Pegasus. Chrysaor was born at the same time as his brother pegasus. He is also known as a stout-hearted warrior, and his name means "he who bears a golden sword". His brother pegasus was an immortal winged horse. How medusa got pregnant with her sons and how they were born is very interesting. Medusa got pregnant when she was sexually assaulted by sea god and father of her son Poseidon. Poseidon did that as revenge to his niece athena, he committed the crime on the steps of athena temple. Her sons were born after  Perseus cut her head off, her sons came out of her neck. Medusa wasn’t always like that. What happened to make her turn evil?

Medusa’s appearance

Medusa has her reason for her behavior. From my research this is a quote from an article I found medusa.”Medusa was a loyal woman who spent her youth training to become a priestess to a goddess she worshiped and believed was the strongest of all the Olympians.” So how does a person like this go from loyal to a “stone” cold killer. According to my research medusa was  Athena’s guardian. After being assaulted medusa was ”....cursed for betraying her goddess. Medusa's destiny was a harsh one she had no control over. However, she does spend all her life with Athena, as she protects her goddess against many foes. So, in a twisted series of events, Medusa fulfills her role of protecting Athena. However, it also led to snakes hating mankind for worshiping the Olympians. This is one story that shows the cruelty of the Greek Gods.” Medusa bad side

After she was accused of betraying Athena she was sent to a land. After a while medusa started embracing who she had become. Everytime she looked a man in the eye he turned into stone.  Dozens of guys came to try and kill medusa, but only one succeeded Perseus. Athena was a virgin so when medusa was assaulted Athena didn’t look at her a victim, but thought she betrayed her. Athena then cursed medusa so her beauty wouldn't be a problem any more. Medusa has her own reason for being how she is. She wasn’t justified or even protected. She didn’t get to hold or see her own and first two sons.

Her reasons

In conclusion medusa did her own wrong, but she was also wronged. The man that caused all her problems is the father of her sons. If it wasn’t for all the hate between Athena and the god of the sea, Medusa would have had a whole different life and she would not have been the way she is. Think about it if you had been what Medusa had been through what would you have done? Answer my question, Do I cry for medusa?

I once read an interesting take on Medusa - that the snakes were a form of protection for her, so she couldn't be abused again (minus the whole being murdered part). I'd never thought about it that way before.
