Minuet Antique
I wrote you a minuet antique
That wasn’t bold, perhaps too meek
The tune in which I expressed
How long your love has been my quest.
But now I know I’m doomed to fail
Your heart is not some holy grail
That I can seize with adoration
A love without an explanation.
But I will live and I won’t cry
About the choices you decide
In love there is no guarantee
I now know you’ll never love me.
It’s rather sad it’s now the end
Perhaps you’ll treat me as a friend
And a true friend is hard to find
I’ll try to be forever kind.
