Safety Plan

Well I guess I better figure out who is going to watch me with the kids since I need to be babysat. I thought about Charlie’s dad’s house. I really didn’t want to move back in with my ex and his parents. Sure I have to keep things social with him for the sake of Charlie but in all honesty I could careless about him. He was just a deadbeat loser in my opinion. I knew Michael would never approve of that living arrangement either. Jose and Michael were friends growing up. They had gone to high school together and were in the same graduating class. I actually met Michael through Jose.

Charlie was 2 at the time and I had just gotten home from work. I remember being irritated. I had just had a long hard day and I had come home to some dude in my living playing video games. I didn’t know who he was and why he was there but I was pissed. I just wanted to come home put my son to bed, cuddle with boyfriend and maybe watch a movie. But no there was this mysterious stranger there instead. I am really glad he was. We had started talking that night while Jose was distracted by another friend who had come over. We discovered we had a lot of things in common. We fell asleep on the couch together. He started visiting every weekend after that. By the second week I had already fallen for him hard. I was in a relationship with Charlie’s dad which was clearly going nowhere and the only reason I never left was because I thought I had nowhere to go.

I had gotten pregnant in high school and Moved in with Jose and his family as soon as Charlie was born. My room was taken over by my brother and his wife.

I jumped at the chance when I heard that Michael needed someone to move in with him. He said he needed someone to move in with him and his brother, as his sister had moved out and they were unable to afford the $900 a month rent. He said that they would have to move in with an aunt in Oklahoma if they couldn’t find anyone to help. Just the thought of never seeing him again I just wouldn’t have it. I convinced Jose to let us move in with him. We did and my romance with Michael blossomed from there. We went on a bike ride about a week after I had moved in and I told him I loved him. He told me he loved me too. I knew at that minute I had to kick Jose to the curb. I couldn’t just let him stay and interfere with my relationship with Michael. He didn’t take it well he was deeply upset but it was for the best. Things moved quickly after that. A month into our relationship we decided to get married, and 4 months later we were. Now we have been together for the past 11 years.

I snapped back to reality and just decided to myself it was probably just better for us to go to Michaels parents house since the kids were there normally on a regular basis.
