"Fate, is a hunter. My conscience mocked me, aggravating me like a pettish child."

While surveying the site of an ancient Scottish Highland ruin, two young archaeologist siblings in training, Montserrat and Alex, wander away from their family and find themselves trapped in an old cave and taken to another century. Lost and separated, Montserrat becomes ensnared in a life-threatening situation with a French-Scots half-breed named Bellamy Lennox. But it isn't all the comical arguments, failed attempts of escaping, and searching for her lost brother. Past the terrors she faces and learning how to accept the fate of the unknown, Montserrat is lured into a new passion she's never known before.
