The danger's still here

With the second impeachment trial of the conman who dreamed he was king coming up this week, I've noticed that some of us democrats have a worrying tenancy towards thinking the danger has passed now that Trump has been handed his ass in the last election and the January 6th attempt to keep him in power failed. We shouldn't, because all those lawmakers who were willing to go along with his coup attempt are still in place.

Yes, freaks like Representative Greene are being stripped of any meaningful ability to influence others to buy into their hateful delusion, but that's only temporary. Let's face it, if someone much smarter than Trump, and much more skilled at hiding their true intent comes along, there's plenty of lawmakers willing to throw democracy under the bus and side with whomever the new delusional narcissist happens to be. So I see much gleeful gloating happening out there, but what Trump proved was that our nation is ripe for a smarter conman's picking.

Red Hunter

What about the congressmen and women willing to throw democracy under the bus on the other side, some such as Schumer, AOC, Omar, Warren, etc.? Their open support for riots over the summer suddenly turned to rabid disgust about what happened at the capitol. Pelosi herself held up COVID aid until Biden was elected, and admitted that was the sole reason she decided to finally move forward. Then the cries of many prominent Democrats for court packing. Harris herself openly supported Communism in a speech just prior to the election. And now Biden has went on an executive order spree, eclipsing all of his predecessors, and even some presidents during the entire span of their presidency. None of this constitutes throwing democracy under the bus though, does it? Is it perhaps because of the (D) beside their name?

JE Falcon aka JEF

The problem is only partially on the leaders, like Trump & Greene. The real problem is the voters that honestly believe what comes out of their mouths, (why?), because it is what they believe and what they want to hear. Like a republican friend of mine recently stated, The Republican Party is a Dumpster Fire and everyone in the party's leadership are getting bottles of gas from their voter base. --- No, This fire has got to burn itself out, or explode.

Thanks, JEF, and I'm afraid it'll explode, but we can hope it burns itself out
