Flagstaff is a city is on the way from Glendale to Sedona, located in northern Arizona.  It is said that the  name Flagstaff comes from an actual flagstaff made from a stripped pine tree that was erected at Antelope Spring, which McMillan was using as his sheep camp in 1876.

However, there is an another saying that in 1855, a railroad surveyor by the name of Samuel Clark Hudson, accompanied by his team, climbed a tall pine tree and tied a flag.[1]

As it was in the mountains on high altitude, the areas were covered with snow and tall needle leaf trees such as pine trees.  It reminded me of my hometown mountains during the winter.

Along the roads, there were small branches of river with strong current.  People say that you can technically enjoy ‘flume ride in amusement park’ by plunging yourself into the water.  You will flow and swim with the tides naturally.

The roads were icy with some snow.  Quite a contrary scene compared to Glendale or Phoenix with its typical Arizona desert weather.
