When we're two we fight over blocks,

when we're three we play with puppets of socks,

when we turn four we have fun,

when we turn five we decide who our friends are.

When we are six we are carefree.

When we get to be seven, we wish to be eleven.

When we turn eight we stop playing silly games.

When we skip to a few years later we are ten.

When we're ten we realize some people are mean.

When we turn eleven we wish we were seven again.

When you're twelve it's about to get crazy.

When you are thirteen you find out it's all about who's popular.

Fourteen is the same.

And Fifteen.

And sixteen and

seventeen and

eighteen too.

With each step up you wonder,

where did all the years go?

I find these each so accurately true, for me at least. I have most definitely experienced thirteen and all under :)
