I just came in from shoveling snow and as I was putting away the shovel and putting the lid on the container of calcium chloride, I was thinking of a conversation I was having a little while ago about tires. Or tyres if that's how you, the reader spell it.
All season tires we were talking about. And we both agreed that they weren't as good as the tires from our past.
When I first started to drive, my tires had metal studs on them to get better traction in the snow and ice.
And my uncle who owned a Plymouth station wagan, yellow with fake wood paneling, he had chains on his tires. Tearing up the snow and ice, as well as the pavement.
But hey, in the springtime, the local DPW needed something to do. So they could fill in the pavement where the chains chewed up the blacktop.
So if its tires, or tyres, all season leaves alot to be desired.

Well it's tyres in my part of the world fingers. We don't have anywhere near the amount of snow you guys have, but we use chains and the damage is minimal. I recall hearing about those metal studs but have never seen them here. I've driven tracked machines, 2x4, 4x4, machines with diff-locks, you name it - and I've been stuck in all of them! Once you lose traction, you're about buggered! Usianguke.

Great observations. I've had similar discussions about guitars: Fenders vs Gibsons; action; the right accessories; over-use of the fuzzbox... Excellent for tearing up the crowds!
