A tale in rhyme about a murderous crime.

It was a drastic night

As the pale moon's light

Crawled across the Castle's lawn.

The King was dead

Done away with in bed

Then the maven of murder

Slipped out before dawn.

Out past the stables

Beneath the four gables

(A-top the stable-master's house)

Then across the field

(Wheat it will yield)

Quick and unseen

Like the church-house mouse.

Oh such a shame

To foot such a game

They searched the roads and train

But the killer was gone

Like a fog fades at dawn

(Dressed as a woman and sporting a cane).

He hides in plain sight

As deception might

The murderous assassin and spy.

Now a cane aided Crone

Travels alone

Rickety, wobbly, and sly.
