A sob climbs up my throat
Its steps are words of hate
And tales of failure
Tears sting and burn my eyes
And like waves flowing from a burst dam
Rush across my riverbed
Breath hitches
Chest trembles
Lungs constrict
Hands shake
Goddammit
I swallow it all
And the silence kills me.
