They’re happy to get a grain of rice and if they’re fortunate a piece of meat,
They’re content with a ball to play with and pop bottles to wear upon their feet.

Eyes That Could Light Up a Midnight Sky

Do you ever think of the children in a war torn place?

With eyes that could light up a midnight sky

And dust bone tears running down their face.

Some with no one to love them some with no place to call home,

No luxuries such as bathrooms or even more so a telephone.

Things we take for granted would make them feel like kings,

X-box pizza air walks to them these are foreign things.

Working hard every day from sun up till sun down

Nothing much to smile about but on their faces you don’t see frowns.

No childhood for many picking through garbage to stay alive

No healthcare or education for them this is a normal life.

They’re happy to get a grain of rice and if they’re fortunate a piece of meat,

They’re content with a ball to play with and pop bottles to wear upon their feet.

Now…can you sit back knowing of this and complain about your clothes

This top’s too short my pants are too small and these shoes are hurting my toes.

Can you sit back and complain about how you look…oh I’m so over weight,

My rear’s too big I have a belly people are going to make fun of me I’m afraid.

Now, go take a glance in the mirror be happy at what you see

Be thankful for having someone to love and life’s necessities.

Before nodding off to sleep, count your blessings, think of what you have,

A home fuzzy blankets pyjamas and before bed a nice warm bath.

These are some of the things we take for granted,

Because we get so wrapped up in our lives

So let’s say a prayer for those who are less fortunate,

When we go to bed tonight
