There will always be someone right around the corner,
waiting for the moment you speak your truth
so they can invalidate it.

They will say, "this isn't the time or place,"
or claim that there's not enough space
for your words to matter as much as theirs do.

They envy the way you show up exactly as you are
in spite of those who keep trying to silence you.

Everyone wants to be seen and heard,
or at least understood
even when we can't all agree,
but we don't live in a world like that unfortunately.

We haven't been taught how to address our thoughts
with compassionate objectives.
We've been distracted and stay busy to suppress them.
And some of the divisive ugliness we see,
is merely a projection of false beliefs
that have skewed our perception of reality.

So just for a moment please,
try to imagine how much more peaceful the world could be
if we developed the ability to understand ourselves,
to change our inner dialogue,
so we can see each other differently,
in ways that reflect how deeply we've explored ourselves.

If for no other reason,
then do it for yourself;
because you deserve peace.
