Luis jolted up from his sleep, beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. He looked around as he caught his breath to see that he was just in his room safe unlike what he thought. Nightmares was one thing he can never get rid of from his life.

He got off from his bed and stepped inside the toilet switching on the light inside. He turned on the tap and as the water hit the sink he washed off the sweat on his face. Luis raised his head up to look at his reflection in the mirror.

His reflection wasn’t in the mirror. Luis squinted his eyes to check if his eyes were deceiving him. While he was, the light started to flicker. He flipped the switch a few times to fix it. Once it stopped flickering, Luis looked back into the mirror, seeing what he never expected.

A person was there in the mirror, all black, as if it was just a shadow that was in the third dimension. His head was egg-like and there was no bump on the sides of his head as ears. The man Luis was looking at was featureless, except for two empty slots that used to hold his eyes that emitted a red light. Luis isn’t sure, but this man in the mirror was familiar, yet it wasn’t Luis himself.

The man in the mirror was frozen. Luis moved around a little bit and with him the featureless man turned in a motionless way to continue facing Luis. For a situation like this, Luis was someone who keeps his calm. Afterall, the real thing didn't start yet.

In curious, Luis knocked on the mirror. The light switch flipped off by self with a click leaving Luis in pitch black. He put the light back on and now the featureless man was out of the mirror and right in front of him. Luis fell on the ground gasping as the mysterious creature looked down at him. It was no human. It reached down to Luis with its hands, that was dripping in fresh blood.

Luis, wide awake now, scrambled away from it and got out of the bathroom. He ran out of his bedroom and looked behind him. The creature was flashing closer and closer to Luis instead of walking or running to catch him, and as it did, its eyes also flashed like light strobe in red and white.

Not wasting his time, Luis ran through the hallway. He tripped on his own feet as he ran for his life, falling and giving whatever that was behind him an easier chance to get him. Luis got back up and ran down the stairs.

The safest place Luis could think of was outside. Not his home, which had a monster chasing him. He looked behind him and saw the creature flashing down the stairs.

Luis swung open the front door and got out of the house. It raining and he ran further away from his home. He was now soaking wet but he didn't care. All he wanted was to be away from the creature.

He continued running over the hill that held his house, and turned his around to see if the creature was near him. It wasn’t there. Luis slowed down and turned back to where he was running and bumped into something. A person. No, the creature.

“I led you here,” it snarled. As it finished its sentence, the creature turned into ashes and flew away in a gust of wind in the rain.

Luis looked up at the sky. The clouds were grey, and in wasn’t just rain clouds. He was tricked by illusions to come here.

“not again,” Luis sighed and took a deep breath knowing what was about to happen next.

A bright flash came from the sky and a lightning struck Luis. He fell on the ground, and the last thing he heard was the sound of thunder.
