February of 2021 brought on the Arctic Blast. There were rolling power outages. Roads were iced or packed with snow. Everyone had to shelter in place since travel was dangerous. Water pipes burst and people froze trapped in their homes.

Arctic Blast

February of 2021 was no fun,

Temperatures dropped below freezing,

For a week no one saw the sun,

Many were trapped inside wheezing.

Some lost power and had no water,

Others suffered broken pipes,

There were even those with no heat,

Imagine the unfortunate children with frost bitten feet.

The streets were icy,

Travel came to a halt,

Sheltering in place was the new norm,

It was mother natures fault.

No lights or TV shows,

Piling clothes on the floor,

Seeking out warmth,

Burrowing into the core.

Not able to cook,

Searching for eatable foods,

Many went hungry,

And experienced horrible moods.

Deliveries were paralyzed,

Shelves lay bare,

Living in panic,

Surviving our fears.

Homes covered with frost,

Roads entrenched with snow,

Constituents shivering and feeling lost,

To escape the cold a senator took his family to Mexico.

Arctic Blast,

Arctic Blast,

Thankfully,

You are just  an experience to learn from our past.
