A recap of last night's Calgary/Toronto game.

The Toronto Maple Leafs got out of their slump last night, blanking the Calgary Flames 2-0.

Leaf's backup goalie was excellent in net, stopping 31 shots.

Jack Campbell was solid in net.

 

Toronto's  Jason Spezza scored on a difficult angle at 18:31 of the first period.

"We got a big goal to start the game," said Leaf's head coach, Sheldon Keefe at tthe postgame press conference.

Calgary had a bit of spark at the beginning of the second period.

Toronto, however, regained their momentum mid-way through the period.

Zach Hyman scored on a wrap around shot at 16:28.

There was no scoring in the third period, however, shots on goal were 13-9 for Calgary.

Toronto's Jake Muzzin was a +2.

Calgary's goalie, David Rittich stopped 31 shots last night.

Toronto has another long rest before heading to Ottawa to play the Senators on Thurday night.

Calgary is a team I could never figure out. On paper, they seem to have a very well put together team, going back to the days of Jerome Ingilia, (I think that's how to spell his last name) and then some. Even the Lindy Ruff days in the late 80's.But they always seem to come up short.
