The greatest story never told!

With a jolt of recognition, I rose from my comfy bed
To start my day with beautiful words trapped in my head

Dreamed of the best poem ever written or conceived,
Of their magnificent brilliance, I couldn't quite believe

My trembling fingers found on/off and I pressed it quick
In the breathless anticipation of greatness I was almost sick

The whirring of the computer seemed forever and a day,
The meaning of thoughts minutes before were slipping away

At long last the stars aligned and everything was set,
But as I stared at the blanketing page my mind was met

By a void devoid of a premise; the promised glory
Of besting the best taunting me and my greatest story

'A guy walks into a bar' I started in frustrated frustration,
"There once was a man..." there would be no great creation

For those two goiters weren't even close to the right phases,
I'm trapped, I'm stymied, I'm lost in a pathetic suck maze!

I think I'm far too familiar with what you speak, Mike.
