A dogs secret life.
My painting "Auggies Travels"

A story was passed on to me,

About a pup, brought to safety.

Where he'd been no one could say,

Found wandering the mountains that day.

He seemed quite bright, an agile Spot,

Who followed around his nose alot.

He was a joyful and playful mutt,

A cheery countenance, not in a rut.

What had he seen in those lone days?

A pack of wolves not used to play?

Antelopes among the steeps?

Or Grizzlies only half asleep?

The light by distant campfires keen,

Are all of my imagined scenes,

That Auggie might have seen.

I speculate, but don't know how,

This gift of God was brought to now,

To bring a grin to those who see,

His gentle and intelligent breed.

A mutt he is, and still today,

His soulful eyes just convey,

The loving nature of a pet,

Whose rescued life is a good bet.
