Had A Good Time Face-Down Blues
I am resting on my face
in a gutter of no good will
(and, in fact, a nasty place).
Just, a fractured lump of lies;
configured as an honest mass
of insufficient tries...
Now, I contemplate, inert,
how cascades of bright potential
concluded, rumpled in the dirt.
Or, more precisely, it is mud.
(It's fortunate my ruination
post-dates
..................some draining flood.)
Ah... I must be quite a sight;
by buttward-upmost point-of-view,
I'm no one's shining knight.
Chic shirt,
.................never to be the same,
upon this carcass, ill-bedecked;
...labeled with a better name.
Reposing, dissolute in thought...
Perhaps last night's lady more content
than previous friendship bought.
But, second think on hazy booze;
and priority given a posher spot
...for a shameless morning's snooze.
