Gently, Sweetly Home Again - Part 8

by Allen Henriquez

“Pop maybe you need to see a marriage counselor?” Zack asks

“Some stranger to know all my personal business, and I’m paying them to listen, and the only thing they care about is the money. I’m not a fool. No way.” X-Why

“I’m sorry Pop, for you and Mom.” Zack

X-Why stands up and drinks the last of his bourbon and walks away from Zack and toward the bedroom. Zack watches him then stands up while still watching. X-Why lays on the bed and immediately goes to sleep.

Zack considers the discussion with his father and concluded that his father is right, he doesn’t need a marriage counselor, he needs a psychiatrist.

***

Zack is on the street walking up Marcy Avenue as traffic moves passed him. Zack interacts with several neighborhood people: as they chat with him, welcoming him home, while he, is happy to see them. Zack’s cell phone rings and he speaks to an old friend, Wilbur, Wilbur Weber went to high school with Zack, the two agree to meet up at a club on Nostrand Avenue.

***

Zack pops into Milton’s Pub on Nostrand Avenue off of Atlantic Avenue, it’s a cool place, small, but cozy, with a monochromatic color design of, midnight blue with white trim. The surprise for Zack is Elise Leslie, Elise was Zack’s girlfriend when he left, but is now Wilbur’s wife.

To be continued. . .
