Finding religion through sports

Alignment Issues
Since I was young, the goal was always turning pro.
Late nights and early morning training keep me on go.
Finishing ever rep and never cutting corners all played a role.
Relationships, social time, and normal kid stuff were all put on hold.
High school arrived and I’m much closer to my dream.
A knee injury left me stuck, my dreams ripped at the seam.
All the years of prayer, asking God to guide me to the league.
I never once stopped and asked if that was his plan for me.
Now there was no college because sports were my ticket out.
All I had then was hate for the world, and a mountain of self-doubt.
After years of denial, alcohol abuse and pity, Reality has finally set in.
The dream was over at the start because it was mine and not his.
Years went by with me constantly rejecting and blaming Christ.
It wasn’t until I truly let him in when my life finally began to take flight.
It took years but I finally got the answer to life’s ultimate quiz.
The key is to not to align your goals with the world, but to align them with his.

You are very wise, Ofc. It sounds like you have become more than you ever anticipated. Well done.
