I’m afraid

I’m afraid to tell you about the bad days

I’m afraid if you hear my troubles, my worries

My overthought thoughts

My struggle to find why

Or how

That you will toss me aside

I’m afraid

I’m afraid that after a while

It’ll turn into a fantasy

Something I make up in my brain

To believe everything is fine

Why do I do this to myself?

I’m afraid

I’m afraid if I look too far into it

I’ll start to wonder

If this is love

Or an obsession

If I love the idea of you

Or am I obsessed with the way you look at me

I’m afraid

I’m afraid that if you give me too much

I’ll be at your knees begging for more

Begging that we never leave

Unless it’s together

I am sure

I am sure that you will leave

My brain believes it

And history repeats itself

I believe you’re just out of reach.
