Brainwork

You’re crazy,” he said.

I shook my head.

No one else knows

how my mind meanders.

With scissors and needle,

I enter my brain;

things best forgotten

are far from rare.

With a snip, a stitch

I’ll move along,

performing a do-it-myself lobotomy,

seeking out the

genuine

me.

Our inner animal is surely more genuine than our memories and book-learning. How much we love unrehearsed spontaneity from the heart.

From nice people, anyway.
