Looking out my Hospital room window at my own reflection

The Ghost of Bob Cratchet

Sliding through the troughs of discomfort

Then cresting the waves of pain

Although in all honesty this time

It’s not that bad

Still I’m glad they called me

To the ER again

When I was discharged last night

The doc said “pneumonia”

He sent me back home with a script

Then next morning

They were back on the phone with me

“You know that prescription?

Naww that’s not it”

My brother threatened to call the ambulance for me

I guess I took too long

To shuffle from my bed to the truck

Then I lost my glasses

In the emergency room

Ain’t that just my damn luck

I shivered downstairs half naked

Until they decided to take me in

The new diagnosis was sepsis

So we started all over again

Now I’ve got my own deluxe apartment

With servants at my beck and call

I’ve been issued official gription sox

So I don’t take a nasty fall

They can’t tell me when

I’ll be able to get out of here

I’m feeling better with each passing day

But this is almost like

One of those

“All included” resorts

So I think that I might like to stay

As long as I remain laying flat in bed

I have a beautiful view of the sky

The people are friendly and courteous

And they want to keep me around

I don’t know why

Yeah life on the coast is beautiful

Vacationing here is grand

Of course lounging at Bay Area Hospital

Isn’t quite the vacation I’d planned
