It was dark; I don’t even remember what was in our minds that day, that made us go to that place. Nick, Natasha, Kabir, Rajat, and I were in a forest, an isolated forest. There was no one around; we hadn’t seen a single human except us for hours. We were walking around the forest with torches in our hands, thirsty and hungry with no clue of where we were.

It was a warm, bright Sunday; I was chilling with my friends at my best friend, Natasha’s place. And because of so much boredom in the past weeks, we decided to do something adventurous. It was completely Nick's idea to go and explore the forest, which was around twenty kilometers away from the main city. I being so fond of horror movies got so excited that Nick and I started planning right away. Natasha is too scared of such stuff and she is one of those who can not even go to the bathroom alone at night, so she turned it down immediately. Rajat and Kabir also didn't quite like the idea because according to them there were some paranormal activities reported in that area. Nick doesn't believe in ghosts spirits and all so he was reluctant that we would go there. At that point I was also a bit scared as it was true there had been a few incidents but I wanted to give it a try after watching so many horror movies and reading a lot about such stuff. After all, Nick's convincing skills have no bounds he convinced us all and the three of them had to give in. Finally, it was decided that we were going there.

We reached there at around 6:00 pm with five water bottles, a few sandwiches, and two torches. We were so delighted as it was another level of adventure. We parked the car on a small platform and marched through the forest. There were a huge number of trees, plants of all kinds which we had never seen before. The forest was really dense, but one thing which disturbed me was there were no animals. Like not even a single bird or something, no flies and nothing at all. I wanted to point that out to everyone but I didn't because it might scare Natasha and she would have insisted to get out at that very moment.

After wandering for an hour or so, we took a break, had our sandwiches, and decided to go back as it had already started getting dark. I remember very well when we decided to return, I saw the time 7:19 pm. Considering the time we took to reach that place we had to be out in an hour.

But that did not happen…

After walking for a really long time, when I looked at my watch it showed 9:07 pm; which meant we were inside for almost two hours. We were wandering cluelessly, completely exhausted. Rajat, who is asthmatic, was facing difficulties in breathing, we didn’t have any food or water left, the GPS was not working, no network on our mobile phones and top of all this it was completely dark and we had only two torches.

After a while, when there was no sign of a way out, we decided to split out. Since Rajat is asthmatic and Natasha was really scared; it was decided that both of them would stay with Kabir and the three of them would wait for us. Nick was given the task to find a way out and I was to accompany him. It was decided that as soon as we found the way out we would gather some people and rescue them. We left the three of them near a big tree and moved further.

To keep track we kept an empty water bottle near a tree and started walking. After wandering around for hours, I saw that water bottle again, which meant we had moved around and were back at the same place. This kept on happening again and again. This was a clear sign that Nick and I were lost and trapped in a maze of trees. Eventually, we sat down, tried switching on my phone but it seemed like it was out of charging, Nick’s phone had been dead for a very long time. I looked at my watch and was shocked to see the time was 6:53; but how was this even possible as it was dark all around; 6:53 would have meant that the sun was out but there was no sign of light and the very next moment I realized the second hand in my watch was moving counter-clockwise, Nick was wearing a digital watch and the seconds in his watch were also decreasing. Terror struck both of us and I could feel goosebumps all over my body.

And suddenly the empty bottle kept beside us rose and smacked Nick’s face leaving him unconscious, I screamed to the top of my voice but he was still lying down. I screamed for the other three but no response. The only option left was to find the way out all alone. As soon as I got up and picked up the torch, it turned off. Now I was left all alone with no trace of light and Nick lying beside me.
