Poem to accompany "A Future That Would Never Exist."

Years of waiting,

wishing that she had chosen me

all those years ago.

The pain that I felt every time

her gaze, like daggers, met mine.

It became overwhelming.

I began to wonder

what I was even waiting for.

She chose my brother,

she made that clear from the start.

Her eyes, though they were open,

were shut to me.

When she looked my way

she did not see the man that loves her,

the one that would do anything for her.

My caring glances,

never once returned by her,

began to cause me pain.

Not a loving word or glance from her.

Only the smile of friendship ever graced her lips.

My brother gave her joy.

They were mates that found each other by chance.

Coming from worlds lightyears apart,

their love led them to the moment that they would meet.

She sacrificed all she knew to be with him.

They began their life together in Thesiak.

When they started a family,

I could not take it anymore.

She was meant for me.

She had to be mine.

Whatever it meant.

Whatever the cost.

I made him forget her,

with a reason that was a lie.

I succeeded.

Now she is mine.

The light in her eyes died

with his memory.

I killed my love

yet she still breathes.

The hate in her eyes is like daggers.

They pierce my soul.

She looks at me

and sees a monster.

What have I done?
