What people! What things! What opinions! What life! I feel between me and my country the abysmal distance of this feeling: contempt, silence is the only possible answer.

There, where the sea breaks, in a roaring
and monotonous cushion, and the winds
lift up the lamentations of the sea ,
There I will bury my heart.

Burn it with the suns of dreary solitude
In the furnace of the Timber, on slow days;
Then, in winter, the violent murmurs
revolve around the barren ground.

Until it is undone and already made
In impalpable dust, be carried
In the whirlwinds that the wind lift.

With your struggles, your tired longing,
Your mad love, dissolve in the bosom of
this infecundity, of that bitter sea.
