Last month I was going home from work late evening. As I turned a corner, a passing stranger palmed me a set of keys.. I was frightened and thought he was insane. Suddenly my feet touched something. I looked down and saw a brown notebook. The man must have dropped it. I picked it up. I saw a name on it,'Edward Johns'. A dirty, torn piece of paper fell out of the notebook and on it was written:'No time to waste.'

Last month I was going home from work late evening. As I turned a corner, a passing stranger palmed me a set of keys. ''It's parked over there,'' he whispered.

He nodded towards a beautiful  Roadster. He said in a low but urgent voice '' Go on, quickly, before anyone sees us.'' and ran away. I was frightened and thought he was insane. Suddenly my feet touched something. I looked down and saw a brown notebook. The man must have dropped it. I picked it up. I saw a name on it,

'Edward Johns'. A dirty, torn piece of paper fell out of the notebook and on it was

written:

'No time to waste. Todd's escaped. Meet us in front of post office at 8 in night on

Tuesday 18th Feb. Jim.'

The man's strange behavior, the note, and the  keys, everything puzzled me. Suddenly I got a brain wave. Didn't I read about stolen cars in the newspaper and watched  news  about  it  yesterday?  ''That  man  must  have  mistaken  me  for someone else. That luxurious Roadster must be stolen!'' I realized. I pulled out the note and read it again and realized 18th was today! I rushed to the post-office feeling excited. I hid behind a bush and waited. A while later three men came. Edward was one of them, looking worried. They were talking about a parcel which was to be received by someone named Quentin and Jenny from the post-office the next morning. ''You were very foolish Edward to mistaken that young woman for Jenny.'' said one of the men. Soon they all departed.

I rushed to the police station early morning. I told them everything and handed over the evidence. They immediately set off to the post-office, and got hold of the parcel. It contained various car keys. Soon a couple arrived demanding the parcel. They were arrested and identified to be Quentin and Jenny.

At last the whole gang was caught! I was delighted that all the cars were returned to their owners. I got a medal of bravery as a reward too.
