Embrace the change

You can change….

Come out of your shell, be uncomfortable; for this is what the great mind has been doing so far...

Once my dad said, “Don’t tell me what to do, I have been doing this for the past 48 years and you expect me to change? That’s foolish”. So, I thought we should not expect elders to change. I went to my niece and told her that she needs to change but she said “I am cool aunt, we don’t change”. I left quietly and started observing people of my age. I found them strange as the change is directly proportional to their so-called ‘Ego’. In the end, I asked myself, am I ready to change my habits for good? Can I be less careless? Is it difficult? There I got the answer. Yes! It is. Change means coming out of your shell, being uncomfortable, and stop feeding your so-called ego of perfection.

"Be the change you wish to see in the world." rightly said by Gandhiji. I started observing my actions and for the first two days, it was great. On the third day, I felt that what is the need of change here, I am best the way I am (said my Ego) moreover I have been living like this for past so many years and I am doing fine.

This is where I felt odd, if I cannot change why do I expect others to? why do I have a problem with their behaviour? If I want others to change for me, let me give them my illustration. This hit me hard. I stood against myself. The only thing that worked here is my will nothing else. I will not say I changed in a day or two or I have completely changed. But now when I compare myself to what I was before, Yes! I have changed, not completely but change is possible. No ego or age can stand long if you are determined enough. Not for others but for yourself, be the better version of yourself and instead of considering it a burden, enjoy the change.

Being flexible to change will not only modify your behaviour but it will make you feel positive. Embrace the change, if you cannot change others at least change your outlook or perspective.
