Inevitable

The blue tide rolls to the sea,
As sure as the morning's dawn
Certain, yet men give it their all,
Scheming, dreaming of resisting,
Bringing democracy down,
Uncaring, determined, focused
They laugh at will of the people,
And simple mathematics
Desperate to hang onto remnants,
These men who dream of forever
Cling stubbornly to outdated
And desperately slash and burn
