Inside A Box

He held it out to me

like it was some kind of prize.

A little box,

a ring inside.

If I’d known quite what

that ring would bring

perhaps I’d have pushed it back at him.

 

Hindsight – such a wonderfully useless thing.

Perhaps looking into the crystal ball or reading the tea leaves or the cards before accepting such life-changing decision so whimsically could save a lot of heartaches. But oh! Love is truly blind!
