When there is silence...

When there is silence,

No voices to be heard,

No mouths that are speaking,

No flowing of words.

When there is silence,

When man shall not speak

What will become of us?

What life will we seek?

For when there is silence,

With no love to share,

No hearts to be given.

With utmost of care.

To be burdened with words

Our hearts crave to speak.

But judged by others.

As common and weak

And if there is silence

I ask, at what cost?

For the mind to be shattered,

And the spirit to be lost?

For when there is silence,

No words to be said,

No telling of stories

No books to be read.

Because with the silence

The words will run dry.

To be held captive,

To wither and die.

So I do not want silence.

It is not for me.

I want ringing voices.

Singing in glee

I want more of stories,

That tell of grand things.

Of adventures and journeys,

And tales that take wings.

I want to hear sadness,

That pierces my heart,

To hear love be declared,

Right from the start.

For in all of this life,

There is one thing, alone,

That a life filled with silence,

Is not one I condone.
