What if I ran away and didn't see you until now?

Mental Picture of Seeing you in Another City in Another Country
Even before I saw you I felt the hair raise on my back.
"No it can't be," I muttered.
But I know that presence, I know the way it feels. I freeze. Its been so long since I've seen you. I thought I would never see you again. You’ve changed. Evidence of the years gone by. You're sitting on a sidewalk bench amidst the city goers. People moving back and forth but ever so suddenly everything has slowed down. I suddenly feel like I can't breathe. Deep within my chest it hurts.
The atmosphere seems to change. You seem to sense it too. I don't have time to turn or hide.
You turn around and see me. We both stare at each other for what seems like eternity. I can't seem to pull away.
I honestly don’t have the strength to pull away.
Not anymore.
I manage to muster a weak smile. It suddenly all comes back.
One step. That day when I first saw you.
Another step forward. When we first said hi.
One step more. Your infectious laugh and goofy grin.
City lights, the shape of your hand. Every particle of your being ingrained in my mind.
I don’t see anything more because all I know now is that my face is buried in your chest and I feel your arms tighten around mine.
Breathe in. breathe out.
"Where were you?" he whispers, his voice barely above a whisper but everything he says resonates and tugs deep within my chest.
I shake my head against his chest breathing heavily unable to say a word.
"It doesn't matter," his voice breaks as he plants a kiss on my head and pulls me in as if afraid to let me go.
"I found you now".
I don't know for how long we stand there but all I know by the time we pull away, you coat is soaked in tears and my vision blurry.
"Hi". I blink.
He lets out a roaring laugher and I honestly don't see it coming as his lips collide with mine.
"You haven't changed," he says and pulls me in for a deeper kiss.
I don't hear the traffic or the people, except for the thundering of blood in my ears.

Awww so romantic. After being away from each other for so long, it looks like they fell right back into how they once were.

What a sweet ending, it was so lovely to see them meet again and it almost seemed like they picked up right where they left off. So much deep emotion came through in this in the pain of being apart and in coming back together. Lovely story.
