Once 9:30 hit. Coral and her sister are in their beds. All snuggled up. They both set an alarm at 12AM. And they slept in a flood of dreams. 2 and a half hours later "Beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep" Coral and Dakota's phones rang. Since both phones were ringing, it was like a zoo in there! They both snapped their eyes open and stopped their alarms before any of their parents woke up. They're pretty gruffy when someone wakes them up without waking at 6 or 7 AM. As they pulled the covers out, they shaked away their sleep. They put on matching hoodies and put on their sneakers and go out the back door with Lane Lykensen's diary. "Okay, let's read this." said Dakota as she pulled out the diary. And she read aloud: March 13, 1997 Today, Raegan, my sister said I should make a new species, and I thought that was a great idea. I think she remembered when we were small and when we drew, we tried to make crazy hybrid animals, like caterpillar fish, tiger elephant. None of those would be able to produce, because that's how it works. So, I told my partner, Stella Rodriguez, and she wanted to work with me. We've been friends since middle school. And we both wanted to be zoologists. But this was way beyond anything. So, we tried everything to capture a vampire to take its DNA and since I was anyways a wolf, we waited till night for both those things. The day bled into the night and we finally caught a vampire and I turned into a wolf by taking off my necklace, that keeps me human in the day. We took the vampire's DNA and my blood and all that stuff. It would take a long time to describe it. We went to our lab and since Stella was a good artist, I described my animal to her. She drew it and we got to work. We put the supplies in a big cage and said some words from this old witch book we found. And then with our eyes closed, we pressed a big red button and then, it turned into the Hoket-Horror Secrets. I don't know why I chose those names, but it just felt right. To make sure it wasn't a trick, we put light on it. It was the most beautifulest thing I've seen. And then I told Stella to go to Raegan, my sister, she was sick, so she couldn't come, but she is smart, so she would've been a very good benefit. When she left, it turned back to its normal form as I sat down next to our creation, I felt nothing but very happy. But what I didn't know was that this was just the beginning. Lane Lykensen "Wow! That was very long!" Dakota said sleepily. "Really? In the morning you read 600 or 700 pages, and just reading a 5 paragraph diary entry is so long?" Coral exclaimed. "Anyways, it's not time to go back to sleep, we have to keep on going! Let's go Dakota!" Dakota stared at her sister. It was 12:10 and she wanted to go somewhere else! But, she obeyed and got up. They went to somewhere Dakota had no idea. But Coral did, she was going to the cemetery. If she wasn't crazy! I don't know who is. Dakota thought. As soon as they went to the cemetery, it was such a horrible sight. With dead grass and broken graves. Some black roses. Crows sitting on the graves cleaning and croaking like frogs. As they walked through the cemetery, it suddenly got quiet. Coral and Dakota's hearts were about to pop out of their chests. What they didn't know was that a wolf was following them from behind. And that wolf's name is Lane Lykensen. She was slowly creeping up on them. She lives in the cemetery. As they were slowly walking, they were suddenly pulled over by Lane Lykensen, the wolf. She lunged at them as the girls screamed. She snarled and growled. When all that commotion was done. Lane was licking her paws, while the girls' breath was going away every second. "Girls, I saw you walking here and saw you with my diary from when I was younger, why do you have it?" Lane said. The girls slowly turned their heads and looked at her in shock. They never got to get a good look at her. Her onyx black fur. Her glorious blue eyes. Her claws, pointy snout. Her fangs when she talked. "Uhh. Hello, so we heard about you in school, and we live in your house, we found a diary in our attic and we read one entry about the Hokets. How come you're still alive?" Coral asked. "You see this?" She said as she took off a necklace with a single pendant, Coral saw it shine when she was snarling at her and Dakota. "This is a MoonPendant. It absorbs the light from the moon to keep me alive in my wolf form." "What happens if you take it off?" Dakota finally spoke up. "Well, do you want to see?" She asked as her blue eyes poured into Dakota's. "Um%u2026 if it's not gonna kill you or anything, then yeah." Coral said in her place. As Coral spoke those words, her paws took off her pendant and handed it to Dakota as if saying, "Keep it safe." And her transformation began. First it was her face, her snout turned shorter, her face turned small in it's human form. Her body was much longer as she stood up. The girls stood up too. Her face, it had ice blue eyeshadow, and her lips were a raspberry pink. Her clothes were just a black hoodie with the moon on it. Her leggings were also black with mini white stars sprinkled all over them. "Well, what do you think?" Lane said, smiling for real this time. And when she did, they saw her snow white fangs peeking out from her mouth. She heard the girls thoughts of her fangs, and she said, "Don't worry, I'm not a vampire too!" "W-what! How do you know we thought that?" "I have Telepathy. Anyways, what brings you here to the cemetery?" "We were trying to look for the Hoket, so we found your diary and you. Do you know where it is?" Coral explained. "Yes, I do. But I would like to get to know you better. Come to my house." She said.
