A quick weekend short for review chain's contest.

Hello, Doctor.

I am Akhil. I visited your office yesterday and you weren’t available. I tried calling you but I guess you are busy. I am writing this email hoping to contact you soon. We already met once still I think I should brief my case again. Every night around 3:15 AM I wake up abruptly from a nightmare. Just before my eyes snap open, it feels as if I am falling and suddenly crash into an ocean that appeared out of no where. My heart pounds in my chest, my face is cold and perspiring. My hands shivering and hot. Soon the reality start to crawl back to my conscious, and all I can remember is the last moments of the dream.

The nightmare, although not very horrid, has been recurring since 2002. I can’t tell why but only what it is, at least some of it.

It starts slow. My feet feel cold and wet, then I hear water waves crashing against rocks. The air is thick, cold, but smells of fresh rain. As I open my eyes I find myself standing knee deep in middle of a lake. The rocks at the bottom are round and coarse, the water has a tint of green. Around me are huge mountains covered in thick layer of forest trees that look almost majestic beneath the cloudy gold sky. I turn around and see a bed of rocks in front of me, right in middle of the rock is a bigger rock with patches of grass and two trees on its top. Far away I can see lights from a village. I hear a light thumping noise from the rock. Walking closer to it, I slosh the water around my legs and move ahead slowly. The noise begins to resemble much like someone playing a Djembe or a Tabla, a type of drum. Suddenly a thunder roars across the sky and lightning strikes on top of the tallest mountain. The drum starts to beat louder and echo into openness of the sky. Two arms erupts out of the water under me and grabs me by neck. The long fingers clench tighter and something pulls me into the lake at a great speed. I wake up just before hitting the rocky bottom.

I have never been to that place from my dream, neither do I listen to classical music. I spoke to you about what could be the meaning of the dream and after a two hour session we didn’t reach any conclusion. What I am about to say might help my case. Two days back my uncle passed away, he was 73 at the time. He loved arts and listened to classical music. In fact, the only time I listened to a classical drum live was when I was 9 years old and he had played it for me. For last few years he grew great interest in painting and painted mostly landscapes. The last time I met him, around a year ago, he said he painted images from his dreams and memories. When I visited his house, after the funeral, his daughter handed me a canvas. She said my uncle wanted me to have the painting he made. The canvas, the painting that he left for me was exactly the same picture of the lake and the rock surrounded by huge mountains. Strangely, there was a man sitting on top of the big rock, in the painting I mean. The man was an Indian in native clothes, playing drum like instrument. I was shocked and confused. What does it mean?

I hope to receive answers from you, or better I would like schedule a meeting.

Thanks.

Is this real? Dream analysis is hard because it depends on the recollective capacity of the patient and usually the symbols in dreams represent unique ideas to each person. Well written at any rate.

If your uncle painted you the picture after you started having the dreams, that is very strange indeed. Good read.

Interesting story, I really like the idea. Your description of the dream was very vivid and well done. I felt like I could be there having this dream. I think it may have been nice to get a little more of an idea of what the connection means, it felt like there was a lot unanswered. Still very interesting and the descriptions were great. Also I'm very sorry for the extra blank comment, it was an accidental click.
