A short story that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Lots of action and friendship.

Hello, my name is Albert, and next month I will be attempting to beat the scuba diving world record. Last year I got second to my rival Kathren. She always gets first, and I always get second because something always goes wrong. The only reason I lost last year was because my goggles broke.

"Today's the day," I said to Kenzie and Luke as I woke them up. After we got ready, we hopped into our old car named Clarence and drove towards the harbor. When we got there, I went to sign in. I was in heat 7, where the professionals dive. There are 5 of us, but everyone knows it's just between Kathren and me. Someone tapped me on the shoulder, I spun around and was met face to face with Kathren.  She said, "This will be my 100 trophy!" I said, "Don't be too sure about that."

Then I walked away. I walked to my boat and got ready. I waved to dad, Kenzie, and Luke, who were on the fairy to watch. The boats pulled away from the dock. After heats one through six went, it was my turn. We all hopped into the water. When the starting whistle blew, we all dove straight down. We were entering black waters. I turned back and only saw 3 of us left. I knew I needed to win. After what felt like two seconds, I reached the world record. It was just me and Kathren left. Then suddenly, Kathren ripped the fin off my foot and bolted past me. It was over. There was no way to win without it. Then I thought of how everything I got close to winning, something went wrong. Then I realized Kathren sabotaged me every time. I grew angry, and before I knew it, I took off. I bolted past Kathren. Then I saw Kathren swimming backup. I had won. Once we reached the surface, I blacked out.

"Hello." Said a voice standing over us when we woke up. It was a giant talking fish. I was Terrified. But what was even more frightening was the sky was yellow. "Your in an alternate universe, and the only way to escape is to complete two challenges. The first is to get through pleasure island, and the second is to scale a waterfall." Said the fish. "Good luck" We both blacked out when we woke up. We were on an island. Then I saw Kenzie, then Luke, but then when I reached out to touch them, they disappeared. "This island will project memories to make you stay, don't fall for it," I said. I grabbed Kathern and led her out of the forest. Then we saw a 700-foot waterfall with ledges sticking out of it. "The second challenge," I said. We worked together to get to the top. "Where are you going to make it!" I spoke with excitement in my voice. "No," Kathren said, "I'm going to make it." Kathren walked off. The next ledge was too far away. But then I thought of my children. I decided I needed to make it. So I jumped to the next ledge. I reached out for the next ledge but missed. I started to fall, and I knew I was going to die. So I smiled, crying. Then thud. Everything went black. But then I opened my eyes. I was on the roof of Clarence, who was Flying! Then I blacked out. I woke up on the shore with Kathryn next to me. "It wasn't me!!!!" She said, "I know, let's go home."
