A poem about how God reaches us

You Found Me Lord

Faced with the world, I battled my problems and tuned you out.

When someone mentioned your name, I would roll over with doubt.

I heard people mention you, but I thought they were lost in their own way.

I never stopped to explore you or at least hear what you had to say.

Drowning in my vices, I felt I could do no wrong.

I heard stories of better places, but I felt the sunken place was where I belonged.

Then one day things took a turn for the worst, and the world I knew changed.

I found myself in jail; alone, scared with only me there to shoulder the blame.

Continuing to drink and drive, I took the life of someone else.

Still there was no sign of you, not even to help with the pain that I felt.

Scared to face the truth, I tried to end my own life.

Then out of nowhere you appeared, In the form of my victim’s wife.

She forgave me for my choices, even though they took someone she loved.

She taught me about your grace and assured me my help would come from above.

Now as I sit in prison, I am as free as I have ever been.

Grateful that you found me, I have repented and made peace with all my sins.
