Like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is an idiom and it stands for the blessing of the generations by God.

Me and my generations would like to be like Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Goliath

Goliath the Old Testament antagonist was put to death by slingshot from David.

Goliath as an idiom means one who succumbs to death by an enemy not so strong as Goliath.

The Yom Kippur war was a Goliath in the making.

Samson

Samson is the Old Testament hero who was put to death by treachery.

Samson as an idiom means becoming a ruin and downfall due to treachery.

I would not like to be a Samson in my life.

Delilah

Delilah was a seductress who persuaded Samson to dole out the secret of his strength and then plotted for the execution of Samson.

Delilah as an idiom means a treacherous seductress.

There is many a Delilah in contemporary society.

David

David of the Old Testament used his intelligence and with God’s help was able to assassinate Goliath.

David as an idiom means using tact and intelligence to subdue an enemy.

A wise person is a David in the making.
