When I was in school, I came across a poem (IF by Rudyard Kipling) and read-only the second stanza, from the poem and comprehended it, and read it religiously to get only marks.

After a long time, I got to see the same poem randomly while I'm surfing through the internet. This time I can instantly find the poet's thoughts sensible. But when I attempt to comprehend, I'm just wondering how didn't I take that seriously because this by heart is something that everyone wants to know and follow to attain their goals.

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

To do something great, we should dream first. Every unique creation out there is first seen in the minds it is pleasant to have dreams, but we should carefully keep reality in the mind. We should get undriven by unrealistic dreams.

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

Thoughts come to be things. Thoughts are extremely powerful. We should think if we sincerely want to obtain ideas to do something or to achieve our dreams but, we should make certain that we are having control over what we are thinking because sometimes thinking leads to overthinking thus resulting in thinking about something which is even unrelated to your dreams.

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

Everything includes two sides: positive and negative, happy and sad, a Good day and an unpleasant day, and a lot more to say. Here, Triumph and disaster like two impostors. We become extremely delighted by neglecting our duties. Becoming over-excited about the first success thus by not aiming to reach higher and on the other hand, feeling terrible for the negative things happening around. In both cases, we are naturally forgetting our routine works and our following goals that is why authors consider them as two impostors. The author says don't be too happy or too sad in any situation. I mutually agree with the second point not to be extremely sad because it is not going to lead us anywhere but being too happy is a good thing in my view as it improves the mood and makes you excited and gives you confidence that you can focus more on the other goals.

This gently reminds me of the famous English saying: Too much of anything is good for nothing

If you can bear to earth the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

There are always people surrounded by us to degrade us or to misunderstand our words and portray them as very wrong to others. They sometimes make us feel bad for spoken out the truth. Every so often unintentionally they will do but sometimes intentionally they will do. We should not lose our temper after overhearing all these things, it is just good to ignore the same.

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools.

Everyone will face this situation, being a CA student I can relate to these lines easily When I took attempts to clear my CA inter, I felt the same way. That can't be explained in words that seeing all our efforts are weakened after seeing the word fail even though I have prepared thoroughly well, spent all my days and nights. It is incredibly challenging for anyone to see the wall falling off that we built all these years. But that doesn't stop you. Yeah, I didn't stop. I did wisely put more effort and undertook the various strategies and started again to crack the exams. I cleared my examinations. Once I see the result as pass appearing on the screen, all the gloomy feelings I had inside flown off.

It's not effortless to do it again but with exemplary patience, willpower, and by properly taking care of our mental health We can powerfully build the wall again.

These undoubtedly made me feel all nostalgic, my favourite poem during school days remembering reading this with the friends even I remember the day our Ma'am thought this poem. Memories are something through which we can enjoy the moment again. Experience the moment again. At that time, I didn't know that one day I'll be feeling all nostalgic about school. Those were good old days.
