A short write I wrote about they sky. it's only a page and a half long

The sky has always intrigued me. People always notice the sun, or the moon, or the stars, or even just the clouds, but they never notice the sky. I used to go outside at night without my glasses, just so I knew what I could see without someone or something else helping; and what I saw was much better than something some old glasses could help me see. the world was so much more interesting when everything is a guess, and the sky was no different.

I don’t care about what’s beyond our atmosphere, and I have no urge to fly, but I always knew that the sky was the most interesting place on earth, and that everything is different up there.

Have you ever noticed the curve of the sky? Whenever people looked at clouds to see shapes, I looked at something different, because cloud-gazing was for personal time, and personal time only. I looked at the curve. The giant arch above our heads that looks like we are underneath a contact lens, so we can see the stars better. Our own personal lens to the universe, and we take it for granted every day.

And every hour of the day, there is a gradient in the sky. During the day, there is a dark patch of reflection at the middle of the sky, even when the sun is at its peak. Like the blue light reflected can just barely reach, causing us to see more universe than we think, every day. At night, it is even stranger. At the very center, like the day, it’s the darkest point in the sky, the light reflecting from the moon, can’t quite reach the farthest up the sky goes, and at the edges, it is almost just as dark, but not quite, due to the fact that even when the sun has set, it still influences our world, even on the other side of the planet, you can still see it’s light on the horizon, and either the remembrance of a day past, or an omen for a day to come.

When people talk about the sky, they say that looking out there, makes you feel small and insignificant, but for me, I don’t feel tiny or like I don’t mean anything, I feel… proportionate. I know there are many things larger than me and I don’t think I’m the most important person in existence, so it makes me feel like I fit in with the universe, and that I am the perfect size for whoever I am, and whoever I’m going to be. I look at the sky, and think “I am real, I am small, I am intrigued, and I fit”.
