AMERICAN DREAM

By Al Garcia

We all see and feel the malignancy that is spreading across America.  Many of us are appalled by the fixation and fascination by many with the social and political cancer that has invaded the American body and spirit.  Every day we see the malignancy spreading and taking hold, devouring the mind, the heart and the soul of our nation.

The American Dream of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, now a fading remnant of a past being rewritten by disillusioned, discontented, treacherous and traitorous revisionists and religious purists attempting to recapture the venomous rhetoric and actions of long defeated and decaying vestiges of our past.  Patriots and veterans of wars, members of political and social crusades and factions trying to advance social justice and individual rights, writers of words that expose and unmask truths, voices that speak truth to power, to nations, and the world on human and civil rights, religious freedom, and ordinary people with open and inquiring minds who seek facts, realities and actualities in place of conspiracies, collusion and sedition – all now enemies of the state.  The very dream that ignited and inspired the passion of America’s purpose and creation – now itself a renegade idea in a changing American landscape littered with decaying dreams of desperate and defeated people.

There is a malignancy that is spreading across America.  And it is killing the host upon which it feeds – the American Dream.

Our American Dream is now tattered and frayed, and littered on empty streets -- waiting to be scooped up as discarded trash -- by men in red caps, with smirks on their face, and automatic rifles swung across their shoulder.

The new America – without a dream – without a heart and soul.  A very possibility, unless we find an antidote to destroy the malignancy of apathy, hatred, bigotry and arrogance.
