DREAM HARVESTERS

By Al Garcia

How many dreams have I had in my lifetime?  How many dreams have become my reality and my truth?  How many dreams did I dream and didn’t know they were dreams?  Where does my dream end and my life begin?

We come into a world filled with challenges and ordeals that test the character and the strength of our very core.  We are groomed, coached and mentored to meet the obstacles and the barriers that we may confront along whatever path we choose or scale whatever roadblock we may come across.  And it is embedded within our souls from childhood through the last sliver of light that fades and finally ends our lives, to dream and to hope and to believe.

Sometimes it is only that magical and miraculous gift of dreams that allows the days to pass and permits the pain and sorrow to subside and hope to faith to heal a broken heart or a devasted soul.  We are the dream harvesters.  And we are taught to harvest the best of dreams and become the dream and live the dream.

How many times as a child did I look to the sky and see the stars and the moon in awe?  How many times was I told to reach for the stars and even beyond?  How many times was I told to follow my dreams?  And it all began when my mother cradled me in her arms and dreamed for me the dreams I could not begin to dream.

There is no such thing as envy or jealousy, for I have learned that all it takes to achieve and to succeed is to dream and to live the dream.

And it all begins when we enter the world.  We are our parent’s dream come true.  We are a creation that they dreamed.  And the magic and the wonder begins, proving that dreams do come true and do exist beyond the confines of the human soul.

It is only when we stop dreaming, hoping and believing that the cruelty of the world around us begins to overtake, overwhelm and even devastate our human spirit, inner strength and magnanimity.

We are the dream harvesters.  We are the visionaries setting free our dreams to enable others to reach for the stars and beyond.  Close your eyes and dream.
