“I’ve been waiting for you”, she said without turning to look.

“You knew this day would come, you can’t steal from the boss and not expect there to be repercussions”, the voice said, their breathing labored from the climb and the thin atmo.

“Steal? I didn’t steal anything. I took what we agreed on. I took what was MINE”

“I’m not here to argue semantics. I honestly don’t care either way. There’s a bounty on your head, killing you will put me in the black.”, the breathing was growing heavier.

“Alright, I’ll go with you, but let me ask you something: You’re not a native of Vorba, are you?”

“What… does… that ...have ….to… do… with… anything?”, the voice was strained, struggling for air.

“Everything! You had to walk to find me because I would have heard your ship or a vehicle coming. Vorba’s a very pretty planet with an unusual feature. See those plants? They’re from the family spiritus furabatur. That family of plants is the most common here. You probably passed 100 on the way here. They reproduce by releasing spores. When the spores come in contact with a wet surface that’s 37 Celcius or warmer they form a sticky substance that attracts insects. The insects get stuck and become food for the growing plant.

Natives of Vorba have adapted long ago, we have a body temperature of 36 Celcius, just low enough that the spores don’t activate.”

She turned around to look, the bounty hunter had suffocated to death.

She dragged the body to the ridge and kicked it over. It fell with the others.

She finished filling her bag.

All the bounty hunters the boss sent were dead.

It was time to have a chat with the boss.

Seeing you would surely leave them breathless.
