LET HIM HOLD OUR HAND

(A Sunday Morning Reflection)

By Al Garcia

Another day arrives.  Another opportunity to witness the beauty and the majesty of creation all around us.  Such a beautiful day.  We should be overcome with joy and excitement, and with curiosity and love.  The light is beginning to shine again, and hope is beginning to blossom again.

We should be dreaming of a world filled with promise and with hope.  And our hearts and our souls should be filled with rejoicing and jubilation.

It may be difficult to fully understand and comprehend the feeling of despair, emptiness and hopelessness that we have had to face. There may be contempt and disdain for those that denied the truth and attempted to reject the truth and conceal the sorrow of the reality that we were living -- isolated and separated from those we loved.

There has already been too much hate, distrust, suspicion and viciousness.  And so, on this Sunday morning I say to anyone who may take the time to say a little prayer, let Him hold our hand again, and let Him into our hearts again.  Let Him lead us from our chambers of despair and sorrow, to the loving arms of those who care and dare to share with those in need, and those who have forsaken Him.

We have seen rainbows in the sky, and felt the night lovingly embrace our tired and chattered souls as it cradled us to sleep and to tranquil dreams of days that used to be.  We have known kindness and love, charity and tolerance, and we have felt the touch and tender embrace of those who cherish us and treasured us.  So, let Him hold our hand and lead us out of the shadows and back into the light of day, and the normalcy that used to be.  A place where once again dreams and rainbows thrive and flourish.  A place where people can once again walk free, holding hands, embracing, touching hearts, without boundaries, chains or shackles of any kind.  A simple place called the normalcy of lives we used to have.

Let us weep and grieve for those we’ve lost in such a senseless way.  But let us also know that they now walk and talk with Him along the golden path.  For now, let us just believe in Him and wait for what lies ahead.  Forget those who have lied and deceived, and those who have tried to divide us and harmed us.  We will see the dreams that were meant to be, and know the joys that we were meant feel.  But most of all, we will feel the love that has kept alive the dream.

Say a little prayer, and let Him hold our hand.  We are not alone, and never should we feel abandoned or unloved.  There is a place beyond the rainbow where dreams do come true.  All we have to do is extend our hand, believe, and then simply let Him hold our hand.
