This is just a short story about sleep paralysis. This is also my first upload on this sight, so please be nice. But, constructive criticism is welcome!

I’d open my eyes. It was, dark, might I say.

I could only see my alarm. “2:57” Glowing in my face, almost taunting me.

When my vision adapted, it was hazy. I could only make out a few big items in my room. My closet, the door frame, and the end of my bed. Something that caught my eye though.

The corner.

Now, in normal daylight, it was just a corner. But, this night, it was different. It was accompanied by a silhouette. Of man, or monster. Couldn’t tell.

All that I knew, was it was tall. It stretched from the floor, then across my ceiling. Looming over me, like a cloud of despair. And it was thin. Like someone took a strip of the evening sky and placed it there.

Now, you might be thinking that this was just my imagination. A chair, or a tall object casting a shadow. But this was no imagination. It started to move. It started to move towards my bed. Behind it. Black. Black took over the walls. Like tar, it started to slide to the floor. Crawling across. Then, up my bed. I tried to move. My arm, to punch it. My normal reaction. Maybe to scream. Nothing. It started to crawl up my bed.

First my feet, then my thighs, my torso, then to my shoulders. It was cold, and heavy. Almost suffocating. I wanted someone; the person next to me. Anyone to hear me, and help. But I couldn’t do anything. It sat there, for what felt like hours. It was like it was trying to kill me yet keep me alive.

All I could do was watch. As everything in that room was swallowed by the night.

After hours, it dissolved. Like a witch to water. When it did, I got out of bed. Almost like a little kid, scared, that there was a monster under my bed. When I turned on the lights, a note was scribbled on the floor.

It read “I hope you slept well. -The evening.”

Gosh! This has some really good narrative! It's exciting and spooky at the same time. As someone who has had hypnopompic hallucinations before, this is more or less spot on. Thankfully, I didn't find scary notes on my floor after waking up. Good job on a thrilling story. :)
