TO SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE

By Al Garcia

To grasp the wind and soar to heights beyond the rising sun.  It is the dawning of another day, and like an eagle, strong and bold and wise, I will survive the pestilence that has polluted the air, the land, the seas that bind the human heart and soul.  My spirit will climb, my resolve will soar, and I will glide downward, like an eagle in the sky, to seize the promise of my destiny and the normalcy of the life that used to be.

I am like an eagle in the wild, soaring far above the storm below, taking flight from all the strife that has devoured the beauty and the majesty below, looking to the horizon as the clouds begin to lift.

Always looking skyward, like an eagle, undaunted by the hovering clouds darkening the dawning of another day.  I listen to the wind and hear its wistful plead.  I see the remnants of the garden that once blossomed beneath the majestic sky, and I begin to feel a chill that penetrates the very depth of me.

I will not despair or feel helpless or hopeless. I will not cower from the challenge and adversity that lays ahead.  I will just imagine how it must feel to soar like an eagle, fearless, bold and graceful.  For like an eagle, I can soar above the highest mountain, command the wind to blow beneath my wings to guide my path, and then gently glide toward the earth below, like a falling Autumn leaf, to find the safety of my nest, and the normalcy of the life I used to have.

To soar like an eagle – and feel again the wind and the rush of life as it used to be.
