TIME TO DISABLE THE ENABLERS

By Al Garcia

At this moment in world history, when the health, welfare and safety of nations and of peoples depends on having access to factual, honest, truthful and scientific information, it has become apparent to many across our nation and around the world, that America’s failure to lead and to inspire confidence, reassurance and encouragement, finally and unquestionably has exposed the incompetence and ineptitude of the President and his enablers.

Misstatements, outright lies and minimization of the gravity, magnitude and seriousness of the Coronavirus outbreak around the world can no longer be underestimated, rejected as a “Democratic” political hoax to harm the ex-President, nor blamed on Obama or any of the other 44 previous administrations.  The blame game is over.

Like everything that has occurred in our nation over the past five years that reflects negatively on the ex-Presidency or administration, the ex-President adamantly stated that he takes “no responsibility” for the delayed actions (or complete inactions) taken by him to deal with the handling of the pandemic that has invaded our country and the world.  So, what else is new.  Has he ever taken responsibility for any of his mistakes, misstatements or blunders?

The ex-President’s limited vocabulary (education?), coupled with his lack of understanding, eloquence and empathy, only helped fuel the fear and distress we were experiencing in the beginning.  His inability to delegate and to listen to experts (medical, scientific or financial), for fear of losing his sole and total control of his administration and his base, only further showed his insecurity, instability and lack of self-confidence.  His refusal to name individuals to head integral agencies and departments for fear of “sharing” power, influence and control.  Only a “great man” or “genius” IN HIS OWN MIND would think and act in this manner.

The ex-President’s (and current Republican base) actions and reactions to the Coronavirus have also energized the economic destabilization that has put our country and the world on the brink of financial collapse.  The ex-President is his own worst enemy, and still is, and as a result, he is America’s antagonist at the very time when America needed a President with a mind, a heart and a soul that inspired, motivated and aroused confidence, trust, hope and conviction at home and around the world.  Whatever happened to America’s leadership?  Whatever happened to America’s courage, passion and fervor to meet challenges, adversities and crises?

What has happened is that we entrusted our country and our lives to a man, a base and a Party incapable of seeing or feeling America’s greatness in times and circumstances like this, or at any other time.  They keep looking backward, not forward.  The Republican Party became an island onto itself, sustained only by its enablers and base, who have only hastened its downfall and disgrace, and its continued deterioration into its own delusional world of self-denial, distortion, disruption and aggrandizement.

America is in trouble, as is the world.  And, instead of a steady hand by the captain’s side at the helm of our ship of state, we find ourselves being led by egomaniacs Congressional leaders, who have surrounded themselves with a spineless and pathetic base espousing lies and conspiracy theories.  The result is what we see around us – confusion, distrust and fear.

Our country, and our patriots of every generation past and present, have paid the price for America’s greatness and America’s prominence, with courage and sacrifice.  We deserve better than this.  We demand better than this.  It is time for the old guard and its followers and enablers to see the light and accept the truth of what is going on around them, and help stop the continuing disintegration of our legacy and our destiny.  It is time to stop enabling incompetence and lies in Congress and in the minds of weak and pathetic counterfeit patriots, and time to start empowering ourselves to recapture our honor, our truth and the power of “We the People.”
