OVER LOOKING

As I sit on this chilly May morning looking out over the land that once was and reflect on the hard struggle ahead and at the same time looking back at the road mankind has traveled to get us here, I couldn’t help but feel a range of emotions. On one hand, feeling good about getting my kids and brother and his kids out of what turned out to be madness, and on the other hand sadness for all that stayed behind that was lost, anger towards those all over the world that was brain dead before they became dead-dead. The litany of missteps created by governments and individuals ranging from wokeness to pandemics, billions of dead worldwide. As I sit here knowing that mankind will make a comeback and wondering what that comeback will look like I know that our group must learn all the basics to survive with minable contact with the outside world. At first, when the shutdowns started, we packed up and headed to the hills, it was a spot that we had used a couple of years before, heavily wooded with a small fast running stream close by, an outcrop of rocks overlooking the valley and a small town about 20 miles away, one access point by dirt road. It happened quickly; larger cities started collapsing world governments started hacking utilities then EMP’s. I look out thinking of the possibilities remembering that which my dad said, obstacles are those things you see when you take your eyes off your goals, I shall keep that in mind as we head at breakneck speed towards the future.
