A ballad I wrote for a project.

A Ghastly Day

The day was as normal as it could be

The daylight shining with not a care,

But what occurred in the family abode

left a profound blemish of shock in the air.

The breeze was oh-so vibrant that day,

and nameless life hustling out and about

but, alas, inside an unnamed abode

a bellowing storm took on an arid drought.

The first signs of a vehement spring

were perceptible on the bare trees.

And the drops of a scarlet, silky potion

were gleaming on an injured Achilles.

Frolic was the tranquility of the

tiny town that held many like me

With young and old, smart and stupid

You couldn’t tell apart gold and debris.

That afternoon was remarkable

‘cause, the weather was of quality

and the joyous spring of 2016

contained a ghastly day for me.
